Dr Georgia Konstantinou

About
Georgia is a qualified Counselling Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a Chartered Member of the British Psychological Society. She completed a three-year professional training in Counselling Psychology at the University of Manchester where she was trained in different psychological approaches Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), humanistic therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
She has experience of working with adults across a variety of different psychological services in the National Health Service, well-known charity organisations and the private sector. Throughout her training and post qualification she has worked in primary care, secondary care, inpatient settings and an Eating Disorders specialist service across North and Central Manchester and Yorkshire. Furthermore, she developed the ability to provide psychological therapy on the basis of assessment, formulation and interventions according to each service's client groups e.g. conduct specialist assessments, risk assessments, motivational interviewing, psychological formulation and evidence-based interventions in line with the NICE guidelines, working with psychological trauma and PTSD, , etc. Given the diversity between services, she has developed the skills to work both within a short-term, limited therapy frame (more focused on coping skills and immediate interventions) and long-term therapeutic work. In addition she has experience working with client groups across the lifespan development: children, adolescents, adults and older people and with different modalities (individual, group work and family work). She has specialist skills in Post-traumatic stress, eating disorders, pervasive interpersonal problems, psychological trauma related to sexual/physical/emotional abuse in childhood, depression, anxiety, OCD. She has a specialist interest in working with eating disorders presentations and complex trauma.
Georgia fundamentally believes in the importance of putting client’s wishes and needs first. She is a warm and thoughtful clinician who has excellent skills in developing trusting relationships and working in an integrated way with many difficulties. In her work with Fox Psychological Services, Georgia offers psychological therapies in both Greek and English.
