Bio
Dr Lauren Walsh is a qualified Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). She completed her doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Staffordshire University and has over 10 years’ experience working within the NHS. She has also undertaken postgraduate training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).
Lauren specialises in adult mental health and complex trauma, supporting individuals experiencing difficulties such as anxiety, low mood, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and relational difficulties. She works with people who may have been coping with their difficulties for a long time but find themselves feeling stuck, overwhelmed or caught in patterns of thinking, feeling and relating that are difficult to change.
Lauren’s approach recognises that taking the first step towards therapy can feel daunting, particularly for those who have spent a long-time managing things on their own. She aims to provide a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where individuals feel heard, understood and able to explore their experiences at their own pace. There is no expectation to have everything figured out before beginning therapy; instead, Lauren works collaboratively with each person to develop a clearer understanding of their difficulties and what may be maintaining them.
Her therapeutic approach draws on EMDR, CBT, Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT)-informed approaches and Compassion Focused Therapy. She tailors therapy to each person’s needs, experiences and goals, recognising that everyone's circumstances and journey are different. Together, she and her clients explore unhelpful patterns, develop greater self-understanding and identify new ways of responding to life's challenges.
Lauren is passionate about helping people make sense of their experiences, build on their existing strengths and move towards meaningful, lasting change. Her aim is to support individuals in developing a more compassionate relationship with themselves, improving their emotional wellbeing and creating a more fulfilling life.
